The admissions process for Primary schools is ‘co-ordinated’, which means that all Local Authorities work together to make sure parents receive the offer of 1 school place only and the process is similar for all parents, regardless of where they live or which school they wish to apply for.

  • If you live in Stockport you must make your application to Stockport Council, even if you wish to apply for schools in a different Local Authority area.  You must apply using Stockport’s Online System.
  • If you live outside of Stockport but wish to apply for a school in the Stockport area, you must make your application to your own Local Authority, who will liaise with Stockport about your child’s application

Children do not have to be in education until the term following their fifth birthday.  However, in Stockport arrangements are made for all children to start school in one single reception intake in the September following their fourth birthday. If you do not wish your child to start school in September, it may be possible to defer your child’s entry to school. This must be done with the agreement of the headteacher of the school where your child is allocated a place.

You must apply for your reception place online at the following Link

Admission Arrangements for children with SEN

On our website we detail our school offer for children with Special Educational Needs. Details of admission into our Kaleidoscope provision can be found under the Local Authority local offer. If a child has a Statement of Special Educational Needs admission to the school is coordinated by the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council Special Educational Needs Team who can be contacted through the Council switchboard on 0161-480 4949.

The School Vision, Values and Aims set out our intentions for ALL children. As part of our quest to become a fully inclusive school we make every effort to provide whatever is required to meet the needs of all the children. Our formal curriculum, our extra-curricular activities and our educational visits (including residential educational visits) are planned to enable every child to take part to the best of their ability.

The large majority of the School is on one level, and there is wheelchair access to all areas, although several areas need to be accessed through external doors rather than through internal corridors. There are toilet facilities for people with disabilities available in the infant building.

Non-Denominational Independent Schools

It is necessary for those children whose parents express a preference for a place in an independent school to satisfy the Governors of that school, by taking the school entrance examination, that they are suitable for admission to the school. Parents should contact the schools directly to obtain from them the necessary information about entrance procedures and open days etc. The appropriate time to do this would be during the Summer Term of Year 5.

Moorfield Primary School does not keep information on local independent schools, and has no other form of contact other than to provide references/reports when requested and to pass on Pupil Records if a child transfers to an independent school.
