Pupil Premium is extra funding for pupils registered as eligible for Free School Meals in Reception to Year 6. It is important to note that this funding is available to any child who has been on free school meals at any time during the last 6 years (Ever 6). It is also provided for those children who are LAC (Looked After Children). There is also funding for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces. Data shows that children within these categories sometimes need extra support, tuition or resources to achieve at their best. The money is allocated to address the specific needs of these children. The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and it will be used by Moorfield to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it most. Each entitled pupil in the 2021-2022 year will receive £1345 per annum (armed forces children received £310, LAC children £2345). This creates extra funding of around £59,499.
Way in which Pupil Premium has been spent
Providing small group work for pupils entitled to PP funding with an experienced Teaching Assistant focused on overcoming gaps in learning to help them make improved progress and to raise their standards of achievement.
Delivering interventions across the school, delivered by teachers and Teaching Assistants focused on the academic and social/emotional well-being of the children (eg: Reading Recovery, Motivational Maths, Kaleidoscope sessions).
One to One Tuition funding aimed at raising standards, particularly in reading, writing and mathematics (for children in all year groups).
Pupil premium resources are used to target able pupils entitled to PP funding to achieve at greater depth in reading, writing and mathematics at the end of KS1 and at the end of KS2.
Funding has also been given for residential visits and can also help with costs towards other trips and activities across the whole year, for instance, theatre trips, Styal Mill, Blue Planet, etc.
Our Pupil Premium children at Moorfield have performed above both the National and Local Authority Average over the past 3 years. As part of this upward trend we intend to maintain these programs and initiatives over the forthcoming year.
Each year a letter goes out to our parents ensuring they are made aware of what pupil premium is and how they can make an application for their child(ren).
